Today, more than ever before, people in our society encounter various behavioral, cognitive, psychological, educational, academic, family, marital, legal, occupational, and similar challenges, both materially and spiritually, in different aspects of life. Before delving into any topic, we must understand what counseling is. Without knowing what counseling is and its purpose, we cannot engage in counseling or counseling communication. Furthermore, we need to understand:

- What are the fundamental characteristics of counseling?
- Since counseling is a process, what are the stages of counseling?
- How should the initial identification of the client be done, and what is its value and importance?

- What is the significance of the environment in the counseling process?
